BENEFITS OF PAINTING A PLAYGROUND AREA
Reduce Confrontation |
Dramatic Injury Reduction |
The playground is an essential part of any school and every community. Children spend many hours of every day keeping themselves occupied with what the playground has to offer. The nearby neighborhood may enjoy both its appearance and utility. Well marked game activities provide increased motivation for children to enter an activity and become engaged in purposeful play, thus cutting down playground confrontations.
Provide Outdoor Learning ExperiencesThe lessons learned from play and social interaction alone are great tools to future success. Play can teach lessons like teamwork, compromise, strategy, kindness, perseverance, and many more. Additionally areas can be painted to become outdoor learning environments for classroom use. Things like clocks, numbers boards, calculators, alphabet boards, etc. can be painted to provide grade level teachers an opportunity to get their kids outside with a more kinesthetic minded approach to a lesson.

Each year, over 200,000 children are injured on school playgrounds. By taking the initiative to provide safe activities for children to engage in the result will be instant reduction in risk from other activities which may cause harm. Foursquare is a much safer option than rock throwing or sword fighting with sticks. https://www.peacefulplaygrounds.com/download/pdf/injuryresearch.pdf
Increase Activity and Maximize SpaceA number of schools have neither safe nor play conducive environments for recess. Whether that be because of area restrictions, poor use of facilities, or playground environment. A number of schools use the same areas for recess as their bus lot, storage facilities, and additional parking. By turning those asphalt areas into to more inviting and play encouraging environments activity will increase, and in turn studies show negative behaviors for the rest of the day tend to decrease. https://www.peacefulplaygrounds.com/pdf/researchreview.pdf

Play is often talked about as if it were a release from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.
